According to the latest report from PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Interactive Advertising Bureau, online advertising spending in the US totaled $1.66 billion in the second quarter of 2003, rising 1.7% from the previous quarter. The report also notes that total online ad spending in Q2 of this year rose by 13.9% from Q2 2002.

PwC and the IAB have been measuring online ad spending since 1998, noting that spending peaked in 2000 at $8.1 billion, and then began to decline over 2001 and 2002, marking the burst of the dot-com bubble. However, the companies note that over $3.3 billion was spent on Internet advertising during the first half of this year (up 10% over the first half of 2002), and projects that between $6.5 billion and $7 billion should be spent overall in 2003, based on historical seasonal data.
