Google Inc., which has revolutionized the way people search the Internet and could go public in the hottest Silicon Valley share offering since the dot-com boom, may already have experienced its most explosive growth, according to analysts who track Web advertising.

To put that projected slowdown in perspective, analysts still forecast double-digit gains in the search industry as far as the eye can see, but they caution that as the market matures Google could also face tougher competition from big and entrenched Internet players like Microsoft Corp.

Google, which was founded by a pair of Stanford University graduate students five years ago, gets most of its revenue by selling ads that run when Internet users enter certain key words into search engines, analysts say.
