Hello again and welcome back! As could be expected, this four-day week was less busy on the news front. However, there were still some new developments that we followed closely. What follows is a recap of them.

On Monday, Ask Jeeves made news again, when a second rumor- again from Microsoft, made the price of its stock go up one more time. The forces lifting Jeeves are a rare confluence of corporate news and investor euphoria in what is arguably one of the hottest technology sectors this year.

The first jump came after Microsoft admitted it had missed the boat on search technology and promised an array of online search products in coming months to bolster its position in a market where, until now, it has relied heavily on partnerships with competitors.

Comments by officials in Redmond spurred renewed rumors that Microsoft might be interested in acquiring Jeeves, which is a relatively small player in a market dominated by Google, Yahoo and MSN. The next few weeks will be revealing as to what the outcome of all this will be, and the effect it will have, both on Ask Jeeves shareholders as well as the company itself.
