Importance of a search engine-friendly design
In closely examining and understanding how search spiders work, the need to create a website that is search engine-friendly becomes apparent. If the search crawlers cannot access your site, or if they have difficulty in navigating the various sections in your site, it is clear that they will have a hard time including your site in their database.

If at all possible, you should avoid Java script menus or links that are in-bedded in graphics. If you really have to use either one of them, make certain that you create a corresponding text link menu at the bottom or on the side of your pages. Doing this will ensure that the spiders will be able to find and index these specific pages.

Another way of making certain that crawlers can index all the pages in your site is by creating a site map. To be really effective, a site map needs to be directly connected to your homepage. Conclusion
Search engine spiders or robots are relatively simple and easy to understand. Their sole purpose is to 'travel' the Web for the discovery of new Web sites and to record changes, additions or modifications in the pages of older sites. If you are launching a new website, make sure you have some links from other sites linking to your site.

Doing this will ensure the spiders will arrive at your site and discover that it is new and they will eventually index it in their database.
