The Rank for $ales Weekly Newsletter, page 17(Continued) September 4, 2004 edition Microsoft's SP-2 service pack for Windows XP My closing note this week is a bit off-topic, but not if you're using a computer running Windows XP. As some of you probably know by now, for the past few weeks, Microsoft is making available to its users the latest SP-2 (service pack No. 2) for its Windows XP operating software. As is sometimes the case, I usually hesitate to download and install a major operating system update. This SP-2 update is one of the biggest that Microsoft has done in years and, at first, I hesitated to 'jump in'... However, I can safely say that I'm happy I did it! My main work station (I have two more) is composed of Pentiums 4's, circa late-2003, with the usual 512 megs of RAM and 32 gigs SCSI hard drives and 2.4 gig CPU's. They are all running Windows XP Professional. Since I downloaded and installed SP-2, all these three machines run faster and appear to be running smoothly, although I never had any problems with any of them with the original XP Professional SP-1. Also, what I like about this new major update are the new safety features. I'm in front of one of these machines for a good part of the day, so to me, performance and Internet security is a priority. This new version appears safer to use (read- less hacker prone). Overall, I'm happy I did it. If you are running Windows XP home edition or XP Professional, get the new SP-2 and tell me if you experience any problems with it. Well, that's it for today folks. Thanks for being here and have a great and SAFE labor day weekend everybody! Serge Thibodeau.
