Most intriguing, A9 has added a "Discover" feature that brings the power of clickstreams into the mix. While it’s not clear that all searchers will want such a sophisticated interface, if A9 catches fire, Amazon will have created some very valuable online real estate that might very well challenge the lead Yahoo and Google have in search. The A9 search engine predicts what you want to find based on your history of searches, which to this date is a unique feature when compared to any other search engine.

In other news on Wednesday, Google's auction-style IPO, despite investor complaints and delays by regulators, met the goals the company's founders had for their initial offering, according to investment bankers WR Hambrecht & Co., who helped pioneer U.S. stock auctions.

Free to talk after a five-month quiet period imposed by federal securities regulators, William Hambrecht and Clay Corbus, co-chief executive officers of the San Francisco firm, discussed details of the $1.9 billion deal, the largest Internet offering ever.
