That important step is to submit it to DMOZ, or sometimes called the Open Directory Project or ODP. DMOZ provides a lot of search results for a good percentage of the most important search engines and directories, including Google. Search Engine Strategies (SES) Conference

As I said earlier, this week's SES conference in San Jose was a pretty busy one. Most of the major search engines were represented, and there were the usual Questions & Answers sessions, along with some workshops on how to improve your search engine visibility.

Some people I know went just to see what and how the SEMPO debacle would turn out. There were mostly negative comments about it, and many paid members thought it was mostly an "advertiser's roster" more than anything else.

My colleague and friend Andy Beal did a great coverage of the SES, and you can read all about it on his personal blog.
