2) All you ever wanted to know about Meta Tags

For the past two or three years, many search engines such as Google and a few others have given less and less attention, and in some cases, no attention at all to Meta Tags. The sole reason for this is simply because in the past, in the go-go days of the Internet, ie: before 2000, many web site owners and webmasters stuffed their meta tags with useless information, basically spamming the search engines.

A 'public Google' and its impact on other search engines

Now that Google is finally public and its shares can be bought and sold by the public at large, what will be the impact on the other major search engines, and the SEO industry as a whole?

If Google is the serious type of company which I think it is, they will use most of the new money they just raised towards more R&D;, and towards improving its search technology.

There's been comments from Wall Street saying that Google is a "one trick pony" or other mentions to that effect. While all of this remains to be seen, one thing is clear: Google has competition and lots of it. The worse thing for it to do right now would be to sit on its laurels. Yahoo is a very big competitor to Google, and one that is noted for its "more mature parenting", as quoted in one of the biggest US newspapers.

Additionally, Microsoft is still busy putting its finishing touches to its own MSN search engine which is slated to come out in a few months.

Let's just hope Google won't forget its humble beginnings in a university dormitory and will make good of all that newly found prosperity.

Well, that's it for today folks. Thanks for being here and have a great weekend everybody!     Serge Thibodeau.
