On Wednesday, Friendster named Charles Barrett as Vice President of Sales, effective immediately. Mr. Barrett will oversee all aspects of advertising sales. His first initiatives will include building a world-class national ad sales team and creating new revenue producing programs.

In addition, he will also be responsible for ad operations and will strive to insure the Friendster network offers marketing partners a robust platform for delivering rich, measurable and highly efficient advertising and promotional campaigns. Charles Barrett joins Friendster from AOL, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Sales for AOL Media Networks, overseeing the Western Region.

In other developments, it was discussed Wednesday that Google has some rather weak corporate governance policies, according to a study by a stockholder service organisation. Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), in a report obtained on Tuesday, said Google's overall ranking on corporate governance is just 0.2 percent, in comparison with Standard and Poor's 500 other firms.
