The Rank for $ales Weekly Newsletter, page 17(Continued) October 16, 2004 edition 2) Paying for inclusion in directories More and more is being said about Pay for Inclusion (PFI) search engines and Pay per Click (PPC) search portals. Today, there are a good number of ways that search directories and search engines are charging companies trying to get their web sites conveniently listed on the Internet. What is really important to underline when talking about this popular topic is that funds invested into most PFI programs go mainly in getting your web site indexed into the various search databases. There really isn't much more to it. Some promise you to be listed within seven days, others tell you it may be sooner. Please click here to read my article. SEO forums: So which ones should you stay away from? For the past few weeks, I've come across a few SEO forums which don't give out objective or helpful information. Case in point: http://seo-professional-forum.com/. Don't get me wrong: As a whole, most forums are really great and are meant to help people better understand the world of search engines and how to optimize a website and increase your site's visibility in the seach engines. However, when a forum only seem to bash or redicule some reputable SEO firms that have been in business for more than five years and instead try to promote newbies or unknown individuals in the business, that is when I have a big problem with that. Here's a few examples of what has been recently posted at the above-mentioned forum:
http://seo-professional-forum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=86#86 Sound suspicious you think? I'd say! That forum has been putting down and in fact downright making fun of such well-known SEO professionals as Andy Beal, Danny Sullivan, Jill Whelan, Aaron Wall and your's truly. If you're looking for an objective or honest opinion, I don't think you will find it there. Instead, focus on older forums which have been there for a while and have proven to be helpful, unbiased and truly objective. Although its nearly impossible to say who is behind the seo-professional-forum, one thing is certain: it does look suspicious. If you want to read more on this, please click here.
