But I certainly understand your frustration. DMOZ has had more than their share of problems in the past 12 months. However, since the last couple of months, they seem to have improved, and their servers seem to crash less often.

In August of last year, I wrote a nice article on how to properly submit to DMOZ, which I recently updated in May. I strongly suggest you read it carefully, since it will tell you all you need to know about submitting to the ODP.

How long will Google continue to use DMOZ for it's directory information? Nobody seems to know for now. However, since a listing in DMOZ can mean a big difference in your search rankings, I think you should do all you can to be in it.

What's more, submitting to DMOZ is free, so try to do it. This week, I submitted myself more than 15 sites in it. Only once did their servers crashed. I went back an hour later and finally managed to succeed the second time. To submit to the DMOZ directory, simply point your browser to www.dmoz.org
