SEMPO in the news, again! In the continuing saga of SEMPO (the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organisation), Danny Sullivan, a noted celebrity and journalist in the field of SEO, has resigned from the organization. And he's not alone, since his associate editor, Chris Sherman also left SEMPO the same day! This doesn't surprise me one bit! Without Danny to represent the industry's best interests, who is there left? My fellow SEO colleagues and I have an even less clear idea of where this supposedly non-profit organization is going, and even less of WHAT can SEMPO do for us, our industry and our clients. In the mean time, prospective clients and companies wishing to have their websites optimized are greatly encouraged to deal with an SEO company that has a clear and strong code of ethics, in order to protect them from companies which call themselves SEO's but are still using outdated optimization techniques, or black hat SEO tricks that might have the sites of their clients banned from the search engines. By the way, Traffic Power just changed their name to First Place or 1P.com. Always be careful when you see a company change its name, especially in light of all its bad publicity in the present, and in the past. Well, that's it for today folks.
